IMMUNIZATIONS

SWMC Offers Vaccines

WE OFFER VACCINES AT THE CLINIC ON THE SAME DAY AS AN OFFICE VISIT OR PATIENTS CAN COME FOR A “VACCINE ONLY VISIT”

  • “VACCINE ONLY VISITS” FOR EXISTING PATIENTS

    • Send a portal message to your care team to schedule your “Vaccine Only Visit” - these cannot be scheduled online.

    • If you are out of network with SWMC, we advise you receive your immunizations through an in-network provider or pharmacy.

    • We do not offer vaccines to under 18 year old patients due to state funded vaccine programs.

Vaccine Schedules

  • Hepatitis B (Recombivax) (all ages): There are 3 shots in the series.

    • Shot #2 can be given 1-2 months after shot #1, but no sooner than 1 month.

    • Shot #3 is given 4 months after shot #2, at least 6 months after shot #1. Then you're all done!

      • To confirm immunity, we can do a blood draw 30 days after the third shot.

  • Human Papillomavirus 9-valent Vaccine (Gardasil 9) (ages 9-45 years old): For patients, over 15 years old, there are 3 shots in the series.

    • Shot #2 can be given 1-2 months after shot #1, but at SWMC we administer shot #2 at 2 months due to insurance regulations.

    • Shot #3 is given 4 months after shot #2, no sooner than 6 months from shot #1. Then you're all done!

  • Influenza (Fluzone Quadrivalent) - once annually for adults.

    • We encourage you to get a good night sleep prior to the immunization, as well as the night of the immunization, as research has shown influenza vaccines to be more effective when the immune system has had good sleep.

  • Tdap (Adacel), Tetanus Toxoid, Reduced Diphtheria Toxoid and Acellular Pertussis Vaccine (ages 10-64 years old):

    • 8-10 years after last Tetanus or Tdap or 5 years after DTap

    • If receiving Tdap/Adacel for tetanus prone wound management (deep cut requiring stitches, etc), it is given as early as 5 years after previous tetanus vaccine.

  • Shingles/Herpes Zoster Vaccine (Shingrix) (50 years and older): 2 dose series.
